There’s a loathsome saying which has been applied very broadly, examples of it are: The Huracan is a poor man’s Aventador, the C-Class is a poor man’s S-Class and The Boxster is a poor man’s 911. Well I can sat flat out that I disagree with this statement, and the 718 is proof of that, as some people choose these cars as they by themselves provide an attractive set of skills that can in some cases shame those bigger models, and the GTS is no exception of that rule.
The Boxster by itself is a dynamic powerhouse, it’s been like this since day one, but with the 718 things have been a bit controversial as Porsche has decided to switch to a 2 liter four cylinder engine, gone is the iconic sound purists loved. But still it proved its prowess as a lighter engine block meant many great things to its dynamism. The GTS however represents the best this generation Boxster has to offer so far, with 368 hp, 430 nm of torque mated to a sweet PDK gearbox that lunges the GTS to 100 in 4.1 seconds. Design wise the Boxster gets a dose of cool black exterior detailing and a new Sport Design apron, making it look super stealthy. The Chrono Pack stop watch is provided by standard to the interior with gorgeous Alcantara centered seats, adding more reasons to want to sit in one.
Of course the fierce GTS is available as a coupe and cabriolet as it is a Boxtser after all. So, I propose a new saying: The Boxster is a smart man’s 911.
