Porsche is one iconic brand indeed, it has pioneered design evolution, has constantly churned out amazingly dynamic models, and ushered sports car makers into the SUV sector. So 99% of the time they do things right. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo however, from the looks of it, seems to be part of the erroneous 1%.
Some cars look beautiful from all angles, some from certain angles, and others do not look nice from any angle, and I think you can guess which category the Sport Turismo Turismo belongs to. Basically it’s a station wagon variant of the Panamera Sedan. With a generic Porsche front, the Panamera’s saving grace is its rear end, regrettably with the Sport Turismo that is taken away, resulting in a very fussy looking car, perhaps function overdid form a bit too much this time. The interior is lifted from the sedan which is a very big plus, it is undeniably modern and slick. As for the drivetrain, and here is where things get very interesting, is a next gen hybrid system that has been adapted from the Porsche 918 Spyder. The V8 biturbo engine and electric motor deliver 850 nm of torque and 680 hp mated to a PDK gearbox, propelling the ungainly station wagon to 100 in a staggering 3.4 seconds. Clearly it will do donuts around the competition, if only it didn’t look like it eats a lot of them. Oh and the trunk can now take in 1,295 liters of items, happy now?
